Love this! Used red onions and they were soooo sweet! Goes right into the Thanksgiving file, but you could do it anytime!

I love this recipe Made it today. I burnt it a little bit more in the oven for my taste. It really does make a difference and taste best with sweet onions. It was delicious!

I'm giving this four stars, but my version was more like two stars. I took a previous reviewer's suggestion about adding crushed red pepper. Unfortunate, I added too much and the leftovers were way too hot. Sometimes it is best not to improvise!

This is a meal by itself; rich and savory. I might add the onions a little later next time to keep them more crisp-tender.

I reviewed this long ago (2002) after it was featured in the magazine....it's one of my favorite things. I have served it for Thanksgiving, at brunches, all by itself when I just want to "veg out" and tonight I served it alongside CL's Barbequed Pork (the one with the coffee) also adding, for the first time, about a tablespoon of julienned ginger before roasting. Yum.

Simple, easy, quick, and delish!! I've made it nummerous times. I do halve the salt. I like to pair it with beef - particularly roast beef with horseradish mustard sauce from the same issue (Dec '02).

Loved this - but why use garlic-pepper blend from a jar, when instead you can use freshly ground black pepper and a few garlic cloves, diced. It takes no time at all (you can even use a garlic press rather than dice) and far fresher flavors and no additives.

Excellent. Wanted something easy to cook and serve to extra family after hurricane Irene. This was perfect and everyone loved it. Used red onion because that is what I had. Added a little fresh thyme from the garden. Will definitely serve again.

So easy. So good! I love sweet potatoes, but am not always in the mood for the extra sweetness that is so often added to them. The sweet onion really is a perfect compliment here. Kicked up the seasonings a bit, but otherwise made this as is.

Delicious! Made for Thanksgiving sweet potato side and was a hit with everyone--those who like sweet-sweet potato dishes plus those who like not-so-sweet...great all around dish! Will definitely make again.

The fast way to do this dish is microwave Sweet Potatoes. Saute onions instead in olive oil. Add in Cubed/peeled cooked potatoes. Add a little honey. Soo good.

i also made this for my sunday dinner and i was not sure about this...but i gave it a try and it was yummy it is kind of a sweet and savory dish i loved it and i will be making this one again!

This was yummy, but nothing truly outstanding. I did use a regular onion though, as well as garlic salt and regular ground pepper. I also only had two sweet potatoes on hand, so I threw in a regular baking potato. My main complaint was that everything got a little mushy; I wish the potatoes would have been crispier.

Very basic recipe that needs additions to make it sparkle. I added 2 TB balsamic vinegar and a good shake of crushed red pepper. One could also add a bit of brown sugar and thyme, or use red onions for a perkier flavor. Very good with the CL rosemary broiled pork chops and some steamed brussel sprouts, but also good with chicken or sausage.

I have made this recipe so often that I don't even look at the recipe anymore because I know it by heart! I have had comments from people who really don't like sweet potatoes that this dish has changed their minds. I first served it at Thanksgiving, but now I find myself making it all year round. I have added red onion and shallots for a change, in addition to the sweet white onion and once I even threw in some white potatoes and it turned out delicious as always, but of course sweet potatoes are best! My best secret is to use fajita seasoning. People beg me for this recipe!!!

This was VERY good.I love sweet potatoes and this dish was easy to prepare.No brown sugar or gobs of butter needed.I did bake it longer though,about an hour.I would serve this to company.

My partner Mark was never excited about candied sweet potatoes and even regular roasted sweets are some times too much for him. This fits the bill for a more savory note. We made no changes in the recipe. Served it with grilled herbed pork chops, steamed asparagus and sauteed mushrooms with a sherry reduction. Perfect autumnal meal.
